The Department for Education and Child Development (DECD) Swimming and Aquatics Program is a curriculum based program supporting the development of water safety skills, knowledge and understanding in, on and around the water as part of the health and physical education learning area. The Program has a swimming, surf education and aquatics component for students from Reception to year 12 SACE and an extended swimming and water safety program for eligible students with disabilities. The program is conducted at a range of council, school and privately owned pools, beaches, lakes and aquatics centres across the state by fully qualified instructors employed by DECD.
